API review

Proposer: Michael Dixon

Conclusion

In regards to the API review process, the Point Cloud Library has been determined to be a somewhat exceptional case. Although the library originated as a part of the ROS ecosystem, development has since migrated to a stand-alone/third-party library. Because of this, much of the work has taken place outside of the standard ROS QAProcess; however, the current API has been extensively used, reviewed, and iterated upon by a large developer community and a broad world-wide user base. In light of this, the 1.0 API is deemed to have passed review.

Note: In response to user feedback and the ongoing experiences of our developers, there are a number of planned changes to the PCL API, which will be implemented for the upcoming 2.0 release. When the initial prototype designs are completed, an official API review can be held for the new version.
