Only released in EOL distros:

physics_ode: opende | parallel_quickstep

Package Summary

This package contains the Open Dynamics Engine (ODE). This package compiles a wg branch of ODE which is intended to be based on a pre-1.0 unreleased version of ODE from trunk with some additional custom patches such as threaded island computations, addes a few more parameter settings API for quickstep, untruncated hinge joint angles and possible additional minor bug fixes.

The opende package pulls in and builds the Threadpool Library by Philipp Henkel for internal use. Threadpool uses the Boost Software License.

Overview

Please see the official ODE documentation for information on how to develop with ODE. We have provided some some useful basic background material on the ODE solvers.

Known Issues

  • Joint limits cannot approach [-π,+π]. This is currently a missing feature in ODE.

  • Joint friction not modeled.
  • Interpenetration tolerance between objects in contact defaults at 1mm to prevent jittery behavior.
  • For more information on ODE limitations, see ODE FAQ and collision FAQ.
